Lead DVM

I was like most little girls and wanted to grow up to be an actress. However, unlike a lot of little girls I had the privilege of spending time each summer at my Aunt Jeanette's farm in Wiota, Iowa and grew to love the farm animals. Of course, she had a dog or two and maybe more than a few cats as well! It was there the Lord gave me the desire to be a veterinarian and I never looked back! I went on to graduate in 1991 from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. Again, the Lord came through and set me down right here in Jefferson City where my mentor, Dr. Lynn Shively taught me more than books could about being a veterinarian. So here I am 35 years later, grateful for the opportunity to minister to the pets who come through our door, but share the love of the Lord with the folks at the other end of the leash! I am blessed to be married to the love of my life, David, for the past 40 years.

Dr. Poindexter

DVM

Dr. Poindexter joined the Westside team in June 2022. She is a graduate of the university of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. In her free time she enjoys gardening, hiking and crocheting.

Dr. Brady

DVM

Dr. Brady is a veterinarian at R Veterinary Westside in Jefferson City. She is dedicated to providing thoughtful, compassionate care while taking the time to understand each pet's individual needs. Dr. Brady is proud to be part of a team that believes veterinary medicine is about more than treating illness. It's about building lasting relationships with pets, their families, and the community they call home.

I have worked at R Veterinary Westside for 13 years. I started as a Kennel Assistant and now worked my way up to Veterinary Assistant. I have 2 kids, 2 dogs, a turtle and a betta fish.

I started at R Veterinary Westside in February 2026 and it's been the best job I've ever had! I have 2 cats and a dog and I love them to the moon and back. When patients come in I want them and their family to feel as loved as my pets are.

A lifelong mid-missourian with a calm demeaner. He has been taking care of animals for over 2 decades. He spent 10 years at an animal shelter and has been with the clinic since 2012.

Practice Manager

Sheila is a life long resident of Cole County who studied animal science in undergrad and graduate school. She has worked at Westside for 18 total years from kennels to manager. In her free time she spends time with family, on the family farm, and beach vacations. Sheila's favorite part of working at Westside is helping families improve the quality of their pets' lives.

David is a valued member of the R Veterinary Westside team in Jefferson City. He works alongside the veterinary team to help provide a welcoming, supportive experience for pets and their families. David enjoys being part of a team that takes pride in caring for the community and helping pets receive the attention and veterinary care they deserve.

I am a receptionist at R Veterinary Westside. I like being the face our clients see when they come in. Getting to know them and making them laugh - sometimes it's just a smile and that's okay.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with family and friends, being outdoors and doing crafts. I have two cats, Pickles and River. I love the atmosphere and everyone is so nice and welcoming!

Kennel Assistant

As a Kennel Assistant, I especially love helping nervous or scared dogs feel safe, valued, and cared for while they’re in our clinic. I enjoy caring for our boarding dogs and spending time with our surgery patients, making sure they feel comfortable and cared for during their stay. Building a bond with each patient and earning their trust is one of my favorite parts of my job.
